OREATHA CASTLE HALEY BLVD AND JOSEPHINE MID CITY NEW ORLEANS - SLIM'S BARBERSHOP - POST KATRINA TRAUMA & ANGER LINGERS IN AIR LIKE STEALTH BLACK MOLD

Whilst Daniel went into Slim's to follow his creative intuitions, I began to photograph first the house with the tattered flag - then the block this house was on, back to the now closed insurance company, to lot with missing house and address sign in the back of the lot, to signs of Katrina/flooding trauma and loss, to the Josephine side of the street located closest to St. Charles (gentrification) back around to corner of Josephine and Oreatha Castle Haley Blvd; to Slim's barbershop, across the street a neighbor walking his dog asks me to take his picture, into the man's domain - Slim's where I am graciously invited to sit down. Daniel at work. Portrait of Slim, his son, and 2 long time customers - I heard the customer in the barbers chair mention he had been coming to Slim's for 22 years. The shop itself a place of meeting, talking and relaxing with friends and neighbors. Back out to the street and house that first called me to come out the warmth of car and photograph it...
