SAME AS IT EVER WAS... LOWER 9TH ST CLAUDE 'BUSINESS' DISTRICT
POST KATRINA NEW ORLEANS -- JULY 2008:
One only need drive around and pay attention to see where brand New Orlean$ and the politicos have decided that a community is viable enough to invest in. Weirdly, it seems like in post-Katrina New Orleans, recovery monies are flowing into communities that have enough personal wealth and did not suffer flood damage -- whilst neighborhoods that suffered the greatest flood damage still wait for assistance. It is my opinion that if it wasn't for the volunteers, non-profits, religious groups, and the grit and determination of the locals, the areas which suffered the greatest from post-Katrina/Rita flood damage wouldn't look as "good" as they do right now.
